Hemlo Mining Corp., operating near Marathon in Northwestern Ontario, currently has an opportunity for a:
Casual Security Guard

Position Description:
Reporting to the Security Supervisor, the guards’ primary responsibility is to ensure the site is secure. They are the first responder in case of a site emergency, conduct orientations as required, conduct searches as required, random drug & alcohol testing, and enforce company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
• First Response to any emergency response at all times while on shift if required.
• Support all plans to obtain and sustain desired operating performance.
• Perform physical inspections to determine if work meets company and security standards in quality and safety.
• Ensure all work completed supports activities of the subsequent shifts; communicate these activities to the cross shift and Supervisor.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly shift reports as required.
• Complete all housekeeping tasks and audits as required.
• Assist in the Occupational Health Centre in the absence of a nurse.
• Do first aid room audits and report deficiencies to the occupational health nurse.
• Do rescue vehicle inspections to maintain equipment in good condition for emergency response.
• Do security patrols in all areas on day and night shifts as required.
• Maintain the requirements for the access card system; disable cards, produce cards when required; fill in card logbook; audit the logbook at the end of shift; follow up to cards not returned.
• Issue and document security seals required in the mill area.
• Be present for work in all secure areas in the mill such as the screens, pump boxes, sumps, and pumps.
• Monitor clean up, planned and emergency maintenance work on the mill secure areas.
• Undertake delivery orientation when required for delivery people, send paperwork to the Training Department for record keeping.
• Ensure that all people coming onto site get appropriate visitor orientation to be conducted by Security.
• Assist by doing random personal and vehicle searches to satisfy the search protocol.
• Perform other duties or special assignments as required.
• To respond to the mill to undertake security responsibilities.
• To undertake mill tours that will identify missing seals, broken locks, and items that are not in accordance with the Security Standard
• To oversee work in secure areas.
• Remove material cleaned up from liners, redundant equipment, gold trap areas and deliver the material to the refinery or the disposal location.
• To oversee work in secure areas.
• To know and understand the Security Standard, the security and mill security procedures, the best practices, site access procedures that apply to the security of the Hemlo site.
• Audit and clean cameras when possible.
• Review live and recorded images as required and complete the required forms.
• Complete all required forms.

Qualifications:
• Ontario Security Guard Licence
• Law & Security/Police Foundations Diploma or 2 years’ experience as a security guard.
• Advanced First Aid.
• Knowledgeable in computer skills
• Understanding of WHMIS and SDS
• Knowledgeable in health & safety standards
• Knowledgeable in site and department operating procedures.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instruction.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate applicable ethics and due diligence.
• Manage time effectively.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Willingness and ability to work rotating day/night shift schedules — required.
