The Opportunity
We’re looking for dependable and safety-focused Ready-Mix Truck Drivers to join our team in Thunder Bay. In this role, you’ll operate a concrete truck delivering ready-mix to construction and industrial job sites across Northwestern Ontario, ensuring each load is mixed, transported, and discharged safely and accurately. This position is well-suited to a professional AZ or DZ licensed driver who takes pride in their equipment, values clear communication with dispatch and site crews, and understands the importance of timeliness, safety, and attention to detail. Your Day-to-Day
- Mix and deliver concrete to customers on a timely basis according to ticket instructions
- Set up, use and maintain tools and equipment associated with concrete pumps mounted on trucks, including assembling concrete chutes and operating chute controls during pour
- Safely set up and operate the conveyor belt system located on the truck
- Visually inspect the mix, the slump and verify the load size
- Safely operate and drive a concrete pump truck
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including the amount of concrete delivered, the time of delivery and any other pertinent information
- Communicate necessary information to the dispatcher
- Communicate with other workers using signals and radios to start and stop flows of materials.
- Maintain accurate driving records
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete vehicle inspection reports, and report unsafe conditions and accidents
- Physical work, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment
- Occasional travel to job sites across Northern Ontario, including out-of-town assignments with overnight stays as required
- Work evenings and weekends as needed to meet project demands
- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Perform other related duties as assigned
You Are a Good Fit If You Have
Required:
- Valid AZ or DZ class driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and CVOR (preference given to AZ drivers)
- Prior experience operating vehicles that utilize on-board conveyor belt systems
- Minimum of one year Ready-Mix or vehicle road experience operating a multi-speed transmission of a Commercial vehicle
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
Considered an Asset:
- Prior concrete knowledge and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
Skills & Abilities:
- Successfully passed comprehensive pre-employment third-party testing requirements (drug and alcohol testing and a Criminal Background Check (CPIC), and any other requirements they impose on contractors)
- Knowledgeable and respectful of the Highway Traffic Act and municipality bylaws.
- Ability to transport material with attention to detail and emphasis on safety.
- Familiar with open pit and mine operations as well as aggregates
- Familiar with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure work quality and compliance are being appropriately monitored through inspections and observations.
- Ability to handle multiple on-the-go tasks and appropriately prioritize based on operational needs
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients
- Ability to adapt to changing job requirements and schedules
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic

*This position is governed by a collective agreement. The pay range posted reflects base compensation under the applicable agreement. Placement within the range is based on experience, qualifications, and union provisions. Benefits and other incentives are offered separately.
