Fresh Market Foods is seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as an Assistant Customer Service Manager (NOC 60020). Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing daily front-end operations, including cash handling, customer service, and staff coordination.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to Cashiers and Customer Service Supervisors to ensure adequate department coverage.
  • Train, coach, and support front-end staff to maintain high standards of customer service and performance.
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor front-end supplies (bags, receipt paper, etc.) and ensure adequate inventory levels.
  • Support inventory management for controlled products in compliance with Ontario regulations.
  • Ensure accuracy of transactions, cash handling procedures, and balancing of tills.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual presentation of the front-end area, including signage and displays.
  • Troubleshoot POS system issues and liaise with technical support when required.
  • Assist staff in resolving operational challenges and completing daily tasks efficiently.
  • Support loss prevention initiatives and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide input to the Customer Service Manager on staff performance, scheduling, and process improvements.
  • Act as Manager on Duty for the front-end in the absence of the Customer Service Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business or retail management is an asset.
  •  1–2 years of supervisory experience in a retail or customer service environment preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Knowledge of POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail operations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in English required; additional languages are an asset.

Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-time (40 hours/week)

Hourly Rate: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour (based on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Transportation: Fresh Market Foods will cover a one-time round-trip travel cost for the successful candidate to our location and back to their permanent residence at the end of the work period. (This does not include the cost for a full trailer to move (household goods, trailers, or large personal belongings etc.).

Housing: Below-market value employee housing may be available, subject to availability.
