About the Role:
As a Counsellor at FIREFLY, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and well-being of children, youth, and families across Northwestern Ontario. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, you will:
Provide individual, family, and group counselling services using evidence-informed, culturally safe, and client-centered approaches.
Complete clinical assessments, develop intervention plans, and implement therapeutic strategies tailored to client and family needs.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team members, community partners, and service providers to support integrated care.
Deliver services in a variety of settings including in-office, schools, community locations, and virtually.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency and ministry standards.
Participate in ongoing professional development, clinical supervision, and reflective practice.
Contribute to service planning, program development, and quality improvement initiatives.
This full-time position is based in either Dryden, ON or Sioux Lookout, ON, with travel required throughout the region to support clients and attend team or community meetings. Some evening and weekend work is required. Flexible scheduling is available within the 35-hour workweek to accommodate client and service needs.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
A Master’s or Graduate degree in a Human Services field is preferred, an undergraduate degree in Human Services is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be a member in good standing with a College recognized by the Psychotherapy Act, 2007.
Must have and maintain a current and valid Driver’s License.
Fluency in French would be an asset.
Skills & Competencies
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of child and adolescent development, systems theory, family dynamics and the clinical assessment process.
Cultural humility and experience working with diverse populations.
Strong problem-solving, case-management and organizational skills.
