Job Summary:

The Rehabilitation Assistant will assist in the provision of clinical care and education to clients, under the guidance of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Kinesiologists, by delivering treatment interventions for coping with limitations in movement, daily functioning and activity.

Qualifications:

  • Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant (PTA/OTA) certificate or diploma, Kinesiology degree or related field required.
  • Previous experience working with clients in a health care facility preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge/skills required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interprofessional team environment.
  • Willingness to participate in patient and staff professional development to keep knowledge and skill current.

Job Duties:

  • Workload includes client care for all designated patients at the hospital site.
  • Assists and supports the work of the rehabilitation team for the treatment, education and management of patients.
  • Delivery of exercise and modality interventions under the guidance of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Kinesiologists.
  • Maintains equipment, treatment areas, office and supplies.
  • Clerical duties as required.
  • Participate in and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible to compile statistical reports and maintain workload data.
  • Participate in and contribute to staff education programs within the rehabilitation department and health centre, including fire and disaster plans, infection control, health and safety and any future programs
  • Salary:  $27.74 – $33.57; in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement.
