Job Overview:
The Arena Maintenance / Cleaner is responsible for keeping the arena clean, safe, and welcoming for community members. As the Arena Maintenance/Cleaner, you will remove snow at entrances, clean the kitchen and common areas, and dispose of garbage regularly.

This role supports a safe and well-maintained community gathering space.

Job Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to:

Exterior Maintenance

  • Shovel snow from arena entrances, walkways, and emergency exits.
  • Apply sand or salt as required to prevent slipping hazards.
  • Keep outdoor access areas clear and safe for community members.

Kitchen Care

  • Wipe down counters, sinks, tables, and surfaces.
  • Clean the exterior of appliances.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors.
  • Wash dishes and put away kitchen items if required.

General Cleaning

  • Sweep and mop floors in the lobby, hallways, change rooms, and common areas.
  • Empty garbage and recycling bins and replace liners.
  • Take waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Wipe down doors, railings, benches, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Maintain clean and tidy washrooms if applicable.

Reporting and Safety

  • Report damage, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the supervisor.
  • Follow safe cleaning practices and proper use of cleaning products.
  • Maintain respectful behaviour with community members at all times.

Hours and Compensation

  • Approximately 1–2 hours per shift.
  • Schedule to be confirmed with supervisor.
  • Wage: $30.00 per hour.

Qualifications:

  • Previous cleaning or maintenance experience is an asset but not required.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as shovelling snow, lifting garbage bags, bending, and standing.
  • Able to follow basic instructions and complete tasks independently.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Respectful and courteous when interacting with community members.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
  • Outdoor work may involve cold weather and snow conditions.
  • The position involves physical activity, including bending, lifting, and standing.

Preference:
Preference will be given to Marten Falls First Nation Band Members, provided the candidate meets the qualifications and requirements of the position.
