Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and technologically proficient Community Health Worker (CHW) to lead our transformative telehealth operations in Cat Lake. This role is designed for a professional who excels at the intersection of clinical care, digital technology, and team mentorship. You will be the primary link between community members and virtual physicians, ensuring clinics run efficiently while guiding a local team of health workers.
Contract Timeline
Training Phase: Commencing March 23, 2026.
Field Rotations: Beginning March 30, 2026.
Contract End Date: October 30, 2026 (with potential for extension)
Compensation & Benefits
In alignment with 2026 labor market rates for the Northwest Ontario region (NOC 42201):
Hourly Rate Range: $28.50 – $38.50 per hour (commensurate with experience).
Travel Status Allowance: Provided in addition to the base hourly rate, following Government of Canada (NJC) rates for Cat Lake.
Travel & Housing: Round-trip air travel and on-site accommodations are fully covered for each rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Operations: Independently operate weekly telehealth clinics, including setting up technical equipment and managing virtual “waiting rooms.”
Patient Coordination: Proactively schedule and manage patient appointments, ensuring the clinic flow is optimized and physicians are fully utilized.
Point of Care (POC) Exams: Conduct basic point-of-care diagnostic exams (e.g., vitals, glucose monitoring, or rapid tests) as required to assist the remote physician.
Leadership & Mentoring: Coordinate the daily activities of local Community Health Workers. Provide hands-on mentoring to help local staff build technical and clinical skills.
Data & Reporting: Maintain high proficiency in Microsoft Excel to track patient metrics and attendance. You must be able to generate professional weekly reports for health stakeholders.
Tech Troubleshooting: Act as the primary on-site expert for video conferencing software and digital medical peripherals.
Required Qualifications
Technical Fluency: Deep comfort with technology, including virtual meeting platforms, and digital diagnostic tools.
Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word are a core requirement for data management and reporting.
Leadership Experience: Proven ability to coordinate a team and a desire to mentor others in a professional setting.
Communication: Strong writing skills for professional reporting and clear verbal communication for patient interactions.
Adaptability: Commitment to a 2-week in / 2-week out rotation and a respectful approach to working within an Indigenous community context.
