Nurse Next Door
Do you want to make a difference in someone’s life while building new skills? Nurse Next Door is looking for a caring and dependable individual to join our team as an intervenor to support a deaf and blind client with their daily routines.
This is a part-time position (approximately 25 hours per week) with flexible scheduling. No previous experience is required – we provide comprehensive training.
About the Role
As an Intervener, you will work one-on-one with a client who is deaf and blind, helping them navigate daily life and participate in meaningful activities. This role focuses on support, companionship, and communication assistance, not personal caregiving.
You’ll receive thorough training on how to communicate effectively, understand the client’s preferences, and use simple strategies to ensure comfort, safety, and connection.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the client with day-to-day routines and activities (e.g., outings, appointments, light household tasks).
- Use alternative communication methods to interact and engage with the client.
- Encourage independence, social interaction, and community involvement.
- Provide a safe, supportive, and respectful environment at all times.
- Communicate regularly with the Care Manager for updates and guidance.

Requirements
- A caring, patient, and reliable personality – that’s what matters most!
- A reliable personal vehicle (required for outings).
- Ability to work some evening or weekend hours, depending on the client’s needs.
- A current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (within the last year).
- A negative TB test (within the last two years).
