Job Description: Frontline Addiction Recovery Worker – Cat Lake First Nation

Cat Lake First Nation is seeking a Frontline Addiction Recovery Worker to join our dedicated, dynamic team supporting individuals at various stages of addiction and recovery. This position plays a vital role in our holistic approach to healing, which integrates Western addiction treatment and the revitalization of Anishnawbe culture, including connection to The Land.

Position Type: Contract, Permanent- Rotational (14-day shifts each month)

Location: Cat Lake First Nation, Ontario

Compensation: $400-$600/day (commensurate with experience & qualifications)

About the Role:
As a Frontline Addiction Worker, you will provide daily support to individuals in addiction recovery. This is more than a clinical position — it is a community role grounded in the belief that true healing involves reconnecting with traditional values, The Land, and cultural identity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Medication Administration:
  • Ensure Suboxone is professionally and safely distributed daily to participants by Daily Observed Therapy.
• Professional Communication:
  • Liaise with clients, community program staff, the pharmacy, physicians, Recovery Co-Leads, and Cultural Recovery Centre leadership to ensure seamless care coordination.
• Organization & Documentation:
  • Maintain meticulous medication records. Sort them upon arrival to the community, document distribution, send forms to doctors and pharmacies, and perform other administrative duties.
• Testing & Monitoring:
  • Conduct urine drug tests and manage results confidentially and respectfully, including inputting data into our treatment database.
• Program Support:
  • Assist with treatment programming, workshops, land-based activities, cultural events, and other activities connected to the Cultural Recovery Centre.

Qualifications:

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, especially in documentation and medication handling.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to work collaboratively with team members and external health professionals.
• Understanding of and respect for Anishnawbe culture and a willingness to engage in cultural activities.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Dependable, compassionate, and committed to supporting others’ healing journeys.
• Clear criminal record check
• Healthy life with no active addictions.

Assets:

• Education, experience and/or training in addiction services, health care, mental health or social work is an asset.
• Other skills and interests you are willing to share with people in recovery in areas such as visual and performing arts, woodworking, gardening, farming, cooking, land-based skills, operating a small business, and cooking.
• Lived experience or formal education related to addiction and recovery in First Nations contexts.
• Familiarity with harm reduction and trauma-informed care.
