Job Summary:

The Health Information Clerk provides essential clerical and administrative support within the Health Records Department. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accessibility and privacy of patient health records in compliance with hospital policies and Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).

The Health Information Clerk contributes to patient safety and effective health service delivery by ensuring health information is complete, accurate, confidential, and secure.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  1. Certification or willingness to pursue certification with Canadian Health Information Management Association considered an asset.
  2. Sensitivity to privacy and confidentiality.
  3. Experience in health information management or other administrative healthcare setting.
  4. Clerical skills including exceptional typing, filing, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proficiency in electronic software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office).
  6. Prior transcription experience preferred.
  7. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
  8. Ability to adapt to changing regulations and technologies in the Canadian healthcare landscape.
