Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Principal at Biigtigong Nishnaabeg Endzhig-kinoomading (Biigtigong Nishnaabeg Elementary School) the successful candidate will carry out the professional duties of a teacher and educate students according to the guidelines provided by the Ontario Language & Math Curriculum as well as the locally developed Biigtigong Nishnaabeg Curriculum.

This is a full-time position with a contract duration of two years for the school years of 2026-2027 and 2027-2028. Renewal or extension is subject to organizational needs.

Skills & Qualifications:
Candidates will be screened according to the listed criteria. It is the responsibility of the candidate to indicate that they meet the following criteria:
• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor Science Degree
• Bachelor of Education (P/J) division
• Ontario College of Teachers Certificate
• Experience teaching First Nation students
• Must provide a current satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) upon hire

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Planning, preparing & delivering lessons to all students as per the Ontario Math and Language Curriculum K-8 as well as other curriculum expectations defined by the community curriculum development team (locally developed with land-based & Nishnaabeg focused content)
• Teach according to the various educational needs, abilities and achievements of the individual students in the classroom
• Work as a team towards educational goals for students and the overall school community
• Provide guidance & advice to students regarding their academic and social matters
• Participate in staff, group and other team meetings
• Incorporate local community culture, language and traditions
• Fulfill any other duties as defined under the teaching contract of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg Elementary School

Successful candidates will be eligible to enroll in the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan
