Position Description:

Barrick is looking for two Field Assistants to assist in an exploration project near Marathon, ON during the 2023 field season.  Reporting to the Project Geologist, the main assignment of the Field Assistant is to support field work through various activities such as bush clearing, operating pressure washer, compiling samples for shipments and supporting field crews during prospecting and mapping in the field.  The candidate will show a commitment to health and safety in the work environment. Barrick will provide training as necessary.

This role is a temporary position starting in June for a 3-month term. If locally based, work will be completed on a 5/2 schedule – weekdays on, weekends off. Externally located applicants will be on a rotation basis (expected 7 days on, 7 days off) at an easily accessible workers camp.   Lodging and meals will also be provided on the project site for those working rotation.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Acting safely and responsibly in and around field programs and local communities
  • Assist with the preparation of historical field areas for mapping
  • Assist with preparing geologic samples for shipments
  • Assist geology team with sample collection

Our ideal candidate:

  • Willingness to learn new skills and experiences
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment (motors, pumps etc.) an asset
  • Act as a safety champion and constantly apply the principals and spirit of Courageous Safety Leadership and Courage to Care
  • Enjoy working in an outdoor environment
  • Possess a valid driver license
