Job Summary:
As Engagement Coordinator you will support the Strategic Policy, Planning, and Quality (SPPQ) Engagement and Partnerships team. This team will assist in the co-development of an engagement pathway to develop and strengthen partnerships in health system planning for improved health and wellbeing of families and communities through collaboration. This Engagement and Partnerships team will:
•Ensure ongoing inclusion, support, and communication with First Nations communities and partners.
•Streamline engagement efforts; maintaining and strengthening connections with First Nations and enhancing SLFNHA’s response to community needs and issues.
•Support improvement of service delivery, utilizing a community response outreach approach to gather community input and feedback to help inform improvements in health services.
• Connect and collaborate on a long-term continuous basis with communities with the aim of facilitating a sense of ownership through community relations. The Engagement Coordinator reports to the Community Engagement Lead.
Qualifications:
•Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC Part II Special Employment).
•Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
•Completion of Grade 12 and/or post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, as deemed acceptable by SLFNHA.
•Minimum 1 year engagement experience.
•Minimum 1 years’ experience working with and building healthy rapport with First Nations and partners in the Sioux Lookout region.
•Experience, knowledge, and awareness of the social complexities of northern and remote First Nations, and sensitivity to First Nations ways of learning, traditions, cultures, and values.
•Must have excellent engagement and interpersonal skills to facilitate group dialogue.
•Possess strong communication and leadership skills, problem-solving skills, conflict management skills.
•Ability to present information and issues in a clear and concise manner.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities.
•Ability to work within a team environment and within defined timelines.
•Intermediate computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Canva, Sage, UKG)
•Ability and willingness to travel extensively and to work evenings and weekends.
•A valid class G/G2 driver’s license.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Develop and maintain respectful and cooperative partnerships with First Nations, tribal councils, external partners, healthcare providers, and other key stakeholders
•Coordinate and provide logistical support for engagement activities.
•Assist in project management tasks related to planning and executing engagement initiatives.
•Assist in the planning and creation of materials for engagement.
•Collaborate with the Community Engagement Lead and other coordinators to ensure consistent and effective engagement practices across all communities.
•Utilize a community response outreach approach to enhance the client experience and address service delivery gaps.
•Collect feedback from community members to inform improvements in health services.
•Prepare regular reports on community feedback, and engagement efforts and outcomes for review by the Community Engagement Lead and other stakeholders.
•Maintain accurate records of engagement activities, community meetings, and follow-ups.
•Monitor budget usage for engagement activities and handle financial transactions, including creating purchase orders, cheque requisitions, and others as needed.
•Perform additional duties as assigned by the Community Engagement Lead to support the overall goals of the Engagement and Partnerships team.
