Situated along the Trans-Canada Highway between the neighbouring city centres of Winnipeg and Thunder Bay, the District of Kenora comprises several communities in Northwestern Ontario, offering an experience in nature like no other. With its main administration office in Dryden and other office locations and ambulance bases across the District, the Kenora District Services Board (KDSB) is the integrated service delivery agency dedicated to improving everyday lives through early learning and care, housing, paramedic, and social services.
We are currently seeking to hire a Manager of Finance located in Dryden, Ontario, to join our Finance team. Our employees enjoy a healthy work environment, professional development, and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager of Finance will provide leadership to the frontline finance staff while collaborating with the Director of Finance to maintain the financial records of the Kenora District Services Board.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Overseeing the maintenance of financial records, including general ledger account maintenance, payroll system administration, approval of monthly/annual adjusting entries, and reconciliation of all income and balance sheet accounts.
- Approving monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts and Visa accounts of the Kenora District Services Board.
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of authorized claim forms for reimbursement by funding agencies.
- Providing assistance with the quarter-end processes, annual audit, financial statement preparation and filing of annual reports as requested.
- Assisting the Director of Finance in the development of the Board’s consolidated annual budget.
- Assisting in the orientation and training of Board staff who specifically interact with Finance.
- Supervising, mentoring and monitoring performance of Finance Supervisors, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Supervision includes evaluation, training, discipline and assignment of duties.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
- Knowledge, training and experience in accounting principles and practices with particular emphasis on municipal financial reporting methods as they pertain to provincially funded social services.
- Ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and quickly, ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion and ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
- Must be highly proficient in using computers and other information technology, such as computerized financial and administrative software.
- Strong organizational skills, high level of initiative and the ability to complete tasks without close supervision.
- Sufficient communication and interpersonal skills in dealing effectively with management staff, employees, Board members, the public, government and community agencies, including an appreciation of the need for confidentiality, tact and discretion.
QUALIFICATIONS WILL INCLUDE:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent from a recognized educational institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in bookkeeping and accounting, one (1) of which must be in a management capacity.
- Experience in the implementation of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) rules, provincial and federal legislation, collective agreements, policies, directives, and guidelines is an asset.
- Professional designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant is an asset.
- A satisfactory Criminal Background Check.
- A valid Ontario Class G (or equivalent) driver’s license.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Along with an excellent benefits package and participation in the OMERS pension plan, we offer a salary ranging from $104,200.70 – $119,572.70 per annum.
